Lauren Wood is a partner at the Law Offices of Schurmer and Wood. She is a civil litigation attorney specializing in all types of plaintiffs’personal injury and wrongful death matters. Ms. Wood has both trial and arbitration experience, as well as extensive experience settling cases through mediation and other methods of alternative dispute resolution.

Ms. Wood has negotiated numerous six and seven figure settlements for her clients. She is an active member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice law in California state courts as well as the United States District Court, Central District of California.

Ms. Wood currently serves on the State Bar’s California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA) Board of Directors and will retain her seat on the board until 2018. Community Involvement

Lauren Wood is a Board of Director of Los Angles Trial Lawyers Charities (LATLC). She serves as a co-chair on both the Golf Committee and the Website Committee and is a committee member of the Casino Night Committee as well as the Public Relations and Social Media Committee. LATLC is an entirely volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit organization whose officers and directors donate their time and resources to help make a positive difference in the quality of life for people within the greater Los Angeles Area, focusing on issues related to education, children, battered women, persons with disabilities, and the homeless. Ms. Wood is also an honorary board member of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities (LATLC) as a result of her participation and her charitable contributions.

Awards & Honors

In addition to her success both in and out of the courtroom, Lauren Wood has received numerous professional accolades. Ms. Wood has been named a 2016 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star. Ms. Wood was also nominated by the Santa Barbara Young Professionals for the 2015 Santa Barbara Young Professional of the Year, an award that recognizes professional achievements as well as community involvement and volunteer work.

Education & Past Experience

Prior to practicing at Schurmer & Wood, Ms. Wood worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity office in San Francisco. While in law school, Ms. Wood also clerked at Cooley Manion Jones Hake Kurowski, a former San Francisco toxic tort firm that specialized in asbestos defense. Ms. Wood began her personal injury career when she interned for plaintiff’s personal injury litigation firm, Rahman Law, which specializes in automobile accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents and dog bites.

Lauren Wood received her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. While in law school, Ms. Wood also studied at the Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense in Paris, France.

Ms. Wood received her undergraduate degree from the University of California Santa Barbara and earned her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science and a minor in Global Peace and Security.
